Yael Naim, the new folk voice

With his album folk songs in English and Hebrew, the "French Norah Jones" could well become one of the musical successes of 2008.

Author, composer, performer, producer and pianist Yael Naim had already tried the solo adventure with a first album gone unnoticed, In A Man's Womb (EMI). This singer born in Paris spent her childhood in Israel. She has participated in several projects like The 10 Commandments, Gladiator or the soundtrack of the film Harrison's Flowers of Elie Chouraqui.

Thealbum soberly titled Yael Naim is a very personal project of the young artist, born from the collaboration with the musician and producer David Donatien. The first single of this opus, New Soul, went straight to the 11th place of the best sales of securities in France. Yael Naim is also in the top 10 of the best albums downloaded from the week. In this album, the artist also offers an astonishing interpretation of the title Toxic, by Britney Spears, in acoustic version.

Like the music of Noah or Norah Jones, the repertoire of Yael Naim mixes folk, jazz and sweet melodies. The artist recorded his album with his musicians Garry Lucas (Jeff Buckley), Xavier Tribolet, Laurent David and Yoed Nir.

Yael Naim will perform with David Donatien at La Boule Noire in Paris, from November 23 to December 15.
