Origin
In history we find Saint Albin who was originally from Vannes (Morbihan). He was elected bishop of Angers in 529 and devoted his life to fighting the merit of the Merovingian aristocracy, especially against incest. He died in 550. Afterwards Albin began to spread in rural France before the Revolution. It then became rare in France until the 1980s but became popular in southern Slavic countries. Today it remains little attributed in France unlike European countries where the first name Albin is very popular.
